This week’s DIY is a soothing balm for all those nicks, cuts, bumps and bruises that need a little extra love.

YOU’LL NEED

1/8 cup coconut oil
1/4 cup olive oil
2 TBS Calendula Flowers (dried)
2 TBS Comfrey Root (dried)
1/8 cup beeswax
2 TBS honey
24 drops Lavender Essential Oil
12 drops Tea Tree Essential Oil
Cheesecloth

HERE’S HOW

This recipe requires you to infuse oil. The first step will be to infuse the olive oil with the herbs. This can be done one of two ways. The first way is to place the dried herbs into an airtight jar and cover them with the olive oil. Leave them to infuse for three to four weeks, shaking the jar once a day. The other method is to heat the herbs and oil on a very low heat for several hours, stirring occasionally.

Once you have the oil infused, strain out the herbs using a cheesecloth.

Now combine the infused oil, coconut oil, beeswax and honey in a double boiler (remember, you can always use a heat-proof jar in a pan of water too). Heat on medium until the oils and beeswax are melted. Remove from heat and add the essential oils as the mixture reaches a warm temperature. Mix well and pour into small, sealable pots or jars.

This mix should make 8 oz of balm, which filled about 16 of our 1/2 oz containers.
