DIY Thursday: Essential Oil Laundry Soap

Looking for a more natural alternative for your laundry needs? You’re in luck! Today we’re going to show you how to make your own laundry soap using 100% pure essential oils. Another bonus? No harsh, skin-irritating chemicals, fake fragrance, or dyes! This recipe is pretty simple and should yield a few month’s worth of laundry, depending on your average load size.

So, let’s get started!

Here’s What You’ll Need:

2 gallon glass container with lid
A large wooden or plastic spoon
2 gallons of water (hot tap water is fine)
½ cup Washing Soda (Sodium Carbonate is the main ingredient you’re looking for)
½ cup Baking Soda
¾ cup Castile Soap (unscented is best!)
1 bottle Everyone Essential Oil (this is equivalent to about 200 drops)

Here’s What To Do:

Start by measuring out your Washing Soda and pouring it into your container.

Add enough hot tap water to cover the Washing Soda and stir until dissolved.

Next, add your Baking Soda. Stir until dissolved.

Fill your container nearly all the way to the top with hot tap water. (Leave only about a ½ inch of room at the top.)

Add your Castile Soap.

Add your essential oils. We used the Calm blend because who doesn’t want a little relaxation while they wash?

Stir carefully until everything is jiving together.

Throw your lid on top and maybe a sweet little label on the front and voila! Fresh, clean clothes for everyone and a moment of calm for you.
